Modern homes are continuously choosing linear fireplaces instead of gas. They are sleek, versatile, stunning, and will easily fit in any contemporary interior.
We love installing a linear fireplace to balance an oversized TV setup, especially because a charming traditional fireplace may look out of place in modern decor.

However, a linear fireplace lets you capture the essence of a cozy hearth without allowing all the modern elements to overpower it. It is also much easier to pair with modern aesthetics in a bright and contemporary home.
Another great thing about linear fireplaces is that they can be used indoors or outdoors. While some of the designs below show them used in a semi-outdoor space, we have decided to focus on the indoor installations.
If you are planning to incorporate a linear fireplace with a TV above it, here are some of our favorite inspirations!
1. Mix Medium Tone Wood and White Walls to Enhance Your Linear Fireplace with TV Above in a Comfy Suburban Home
For the first photo, look at this comfy suburban home and how it decorates the living room. As you can see, the linear fireplace becomes the centerpiece as its fire stands out against the white surround. Above it is a simple, black mounted TV.
The fireplace itself is vented, with the vent for the heat above the TV. This makes it safe to use a wood surround that can go well with the overall aesthetics of the space.
For the rest of the walls here, you can use Sherwin Williams Worldly Grey that is dark enough to provide a nice and cozy atmosphere but still quite bright to make the room feels spacious and not closed-off.
The coffee table with intricate legs is from Noir Furniture. You can decorate this by placing some books, an indoor plant, and other trinkets you may have.
Finally, to complement the medium-tone wood floor, place a large rug to further cozy up the room.
2. Try a Stone Wall to Hold Linear Fireplace with TV Above in a Charming Semi-Outdoor Patio
This is an example of a semi-outdoor patio where you open the space to the surrounding environment outside without sacrificing the comforts of the modern lifestyle.
As we have said, a linear fireplace can be used both indoors and outdoors, and here you can see the in-between application. The stone fireplace measures up to 14 feet high and 6 feet wide, which you can actually get from Montigo. The stone used is Lueders rough back.
Not to forget the TV mounted about the fireplace. Add to that a ceiling fan; this space can quickly become the hang-out spot for guests and family.
Meanwhile, the furniture used in this space is from Henry Hall Designs, including stylish armchairs and chic coffee tables. Set upon a Lueders Limestone flooring, you can easily create a space that feels both modern and classic.
You may be able to spot the fence outside that circles the house itself. This was done by Global Fence and used the excellent and durable Douglas Fir.
3. Symmetrical Wall with Linear Fireplace and TV Can Create a Warm and Calming Living Room
Having a symmetrical wall can be a great way to elevate the visual appeal of a room, such as this living room.
You can see how the built-in shelves flanking the mounted TV and fireplace provide a calming feeling. The natural textures of these shelves also offer a nice contrast and warmth to the grey walls.
Here, you can use the shelves to display some of your personal styles. For example, plants, contemporary decor, wall art, and even wine bottles. Feel free to personalize the space and showcase yourself.
The linear fireplace itself is a simple and modern model that fits the contemporary surrounding. Meanwhile, the brown floors also tie up space nicely. You can place some indoor plants near the window, a matching sofa, an armchair, as well as an elegant coffee table.
4. Spanish-Inspired Mediterranean Room Featuring a Long Linear Fireplace and Mounted TV
Not a lot of interior style is as romantic and cozy as Spanish-inspired design. For instance, this Mediterranean room feels very warm and welcoming without losing a strong sense of style.
The Montigo linear fireplace has an electric starter, which can be simpler and easier to ignite than a traditional fireplace. Its long design also complements the old and cozy vibe.
Meanwhile, you can mount a TV about the fireplace for a touch of modernity. The antique lamps hanging on both sides also offer a further element of uniqueness.
As a nod to the Spanish inspiration, the medium-tone wood flooring matches the other wood elements in this space. This includes the built-in bookshelves, ceiling beams, and sliding door frame. You can open the entire door to make it feel like a semi-outdoor space.
To tie up the look, you can have a large Moroccan rug underneath the living area. Throwing in some pillows with a fun design and coloring is also a great idea.
5. Small but Charming: A Cozy Basement Room with Linear Fireplace, TV Above, and Built-in Shelves
Nobody says that a small living room cannot be charming and breathtaking. In fact, when decorated right, you can make it feel much more spacious and personal.
This basement room is an example of how you can completely transform a place into something else, all with the right choice of colors, furniture, and design. Of course, that includes the linear fireplace and TV above!
Here, you can see a model from Spark Fireplace, whereas the stone used is ledge stone, which you can easily find in any specialty stone vendor. The flanking cabinets are painted by Plain and Fancy and use walnut as the wood top.
One trick is to incorporate a seamless component throughout the room. For instance, the wood cabinet top is an extension of the branch side tables further away in the space. These charming tables are from Madegoods and painted in Cool Grey Shagreen.
Customize the room by adding your own special touch through different wall arts, books, pillows or throw blankets, and table decor.
6. Go for a Contemporary Open Concept Room with White Walls, Wood Elements, Linear Fireplace, and TV
It is difficult to go wrong with an open concept room. It will make any home feel large and spacious while still appearing bright, clean, and overall classy.
This living room evokes a mid-century modern style with plenty of contemporary elements, such as the unique wood paneling, linear fireplace with TV above, dramatic ceiling wood beams, patterned rug, and beautiful ceiling lights.
One unique interior technique is called book matching, which is when you combine two wood surfaces to create an open-book appearance. Here, they have used rift sawn white oak to do this on the wall panels. They are also veneered on plywood.
In addition, having white walls is a good choice in this case as it provides an open feeling and a clean canvas for all the other colors and elements. As such, you avoid making the room seem cramped and messy.
7. Consider a Black and White Living Room with a Two-Sided Linear Fireplace, Mounted TV, and Clean Design
Simple, gorgeous, and enchanting. This living room features a two-sided linear fireplace which is no doubt the main centerpiece. As you can see, the fireplace lets you peek through from one side to the other.
Above it is a black mounted TV that fits right into the hole of this wall. The other side of this photo shows a comfortable seating area where a brown sofa and armchairs flock around a coffee table.
On this side, you can place some decorative tables and lamps to jazz up space. There is also a natural rock structure that looks like it can serve as both a small coffee table and extra seating.
Note how the entirety of this living room uses a black and white color scheme. It is an obvious choice for such a modern home and allows you to experiment with different features, shapes, and textures, which the simple colors will enhance even more.
8. Build a Modern and Luxury Nest Featuring Lagos Blue Stone in the Linear Fireplace and Ebony Veneer for the TV Surround
When anyone sees this living room, the first thing they notice might be the slanted ceiling, which immediately gives the impression of more space, openness, and height.
The large TV is recessed into the panel and surrounded by ebony veneer stone. This helps integrate a modern electronic with the more traditional look of the stone wall. Meanwhile, the linear fireplace itself features Lagos blue stone.
You can even see a small bar and wine-tasting area on the left side of this room. Complete with beige bar stools, a glass table, and a temperature-controlled wine rack, this can be a perfect addition for when you want to invite guests over.
After sipping on some homemade cocktails or vintage wine, you can move over to the cozy sofa, crank up the fireplace if the day is chilly, play some soothing music, and look out the floor-to-ceiling glass walls towards the calming scenery.
9. A Rustic Mountain-Styled Bedroom Has a Steel Plate Linear Fireplace and Reclaimed Barnwood with TV Above
Linear fireplaces do not just belong in the living room, as you have mostly seen today. You can also incorporate it in your bedroom for a warm and cozy setup.
For instance, take a look at this rustic mountain-style bedroom that combines several different materials to elevate the ambiance, from the steel plate around the traditional-looking linear fireplace to the reclaimed barn wood frame around the TV above.
This reclaimed barn wood also extends towards part of the ceiling and creates a dramatic element that draws the eye upwards, thus making the bedroom feel bigger.
You can also place a black leather reclining chair on the corner that fits right in this interior style while providing an extra spot for relaxing. The bed itself uses plush but pristine white bedding, as well as some warm beige throw blanket.
Finally, if you are lucky enough to have a home among beautiful rolling landscapes, make sure to have large windows and a balcony to make the most of it!
10. Combine Stone-Clad Linear Fireplace with Stunning TV in a Dramatic Mountain-Style Living and Dining Room
This is a dramatic two-story living and dining room inspired by mountain-styled homes. It features Weiland doors that can slide open into pockets to combine the indoor space with the terrace.
For the 5-feet linear fireplace, you can get the same model, Xtreme 6020, from Fireplace Xtrordinair. This stone-clad fireplace looks right at home in this mountain-style home, where a lot of exposed brick, stones, and wood coalesce.
It uses Cisco Grove stone from Sierra Stone in Truckee, CA, with a thin veneer and dark granite accents. Above the fireplace, you can see a small yet high-definition TV. An important electronic in any modern home!
You can combine your living and dining rooms into one open space to make your home feel airier and more spacious. In this case, the stunning chandelier above the dining table was customized from Hubbarton Forge.
Moreover, the wall paint uses Benjamin Moore’s Indian River #985, a gorgeous beige color that truly balances out the rich details and textures of this living space.
11. Try a Two-Sided Linear Fireplace and Mounted TV on Stone Accent Wall for a Small yet Cozy Contemporary Master Bedroom
Here is another exquisite bedroom inspiration that uses a linear fireplace with a TV above. The stone accent wall helps create this small master bedroom feel cozy and so that anyone staying here can relax.
The linear fireplace design truly embraces its indoor and outdoor features. Combined with the stunning stone, the two-sided fireplace becomes an exotic centerpiece of this entire room. It also integrates the room with the surrounding panorama just outside the window.
The bed itself is clad in soft white bedsheets with grey-accented pillows and a light grey blanket. This soft and warm tone matches the light ambiance of the bedroom, from the beige walls to light-toned wood windowsills. They also balance the heavier elements of the stone wall.
As a finishing or personalized touch, you can hang a painting, piece of art, or photograph on the wall. The designer here has chosen an abstract painting with a calming color palette to go with the rest of the room, but you can feel free to have anything that you like!
12. Polished Porcelain Tile for Linear Fireplace and Wall-Mounted TV on Gray Walls Make for a Soothing Living Space
Moving back to living room designs, this soothing living space features a linear fireplace with polished porcelain tile and wall-mounted TV.
The use of darker colors such as the marbled wood floor, dark grey sofas, dark grey fireplace, and shelves set the tone of sophistication and elegance. However, the off-white walls and huge sliding doors open up the space to prevent it from being too cramped.
The fireplace itself is a book-matched polished porcelain tile from Olympia Tile, specifically the Muse Series in Dark Gray color. It is a reflective tile that screams luxury and perfect for anyone wanting an opulent home.
13. Opulent Living and Study Inspired by Cottage Aesthetics Uses Dark Wood Floors, Linear Fireplace, and Large TV Above
Another fail-proof idea is to combine your living room with study, especially if your home doesn’t have a separate room or section for a home office. This can be a great spot for working.
This country-style living room is inspired by cottage aesthetics to create a luxurious yet modest space. It features antique heavy-brushed and smoked oak flooring, which is a dark tone that really sets the comfy mood of the room.
The linear fireplace is a simple yet brilliant addition, while the TV above is recessed into the wall panel. Instead of a conventional sofa or couch, you can use these reclining armchairs that can be very comfortable to watch from!
Finally, you can reserve one corner of the living room as the study area. Cover the wall around it in graphic wallpaper to create some semblance of separation. You can also hang some simple artwork or photographs in front of the study table.
14. Mix Contemporary Design and Artistic Touch for a Rich Seaside Living Room with Linear Fireplace and TV Mount
Inspired by seaside living? We truly adore this large living room that connects with a semi-outdoor area.
Briefly describing this open space, you can see some outdoor furniture, a dining area, a BBQ grill, and plenty of outdoor lighting. This is the perfect place to host an early summer house party. It’s also a great way to blend indoor and outdoor spaces.
The living room itself features a linear fireplace with massive TV above on a black stone wall panel. It truly is a coalescence of contemporary styling with artistic tendencies, as you can note from the various art pieces throughout the room.
Starting from the two abstract wall paintings, a floor installation on the left side, some glass sculpture on the table, and a grand piano with a glass-legged bench on the right side. Don’t forget a plush beige rug to instill that sense of opulence!
At the end of the day, there is no right or wrong way to decorate your living room and home. We can provide more lists, and you can go through as many of them as you can. But it all comes down to your personal style, needs, and preference.
